AirAsia to connect Bengaluru with Hyderabad, Guwahati & Goa

AirAsia will connect Bengaluru with Hyderabad and Goa from September 22. The airline would also operate flights between Bengaluru and Guwahati with daily service. This was announced at the company’s press conference where AirAsia disclosed its plans of expansion of its fleet along with starting new routes in India. As part of the proposed plans, it will induct 20 Airbus A320 aircraft to its India operation.

 

SpiceJet’s Silchar, Gorakhpur and Aizawl flights from Oct 4

Starting  October 4, SpiceJet to add new markets like Silchar, Gorakhpur and Aizawl and will operate new flights on routes like Kolkata-Silchar-Guwahati; Kolkata-Aizawl-Guwahati and Kolkata-Gorakhpur-Delhi. Kolkata-Visakhapatnam-Kolkata flights will also start from November 1

 

 

Cathay, Dragonair up baggage allowance by 10kg

 Cathay Pacific Airways and its subsidiary Dragonair have revised their baggage policies and will now be offering customers an additional 10kg of check-in baggage. The new policy will be valid starting September 15, 2016, and will be available to all passengers, whether they are travelling economy, business or first class. But, the revised checked baggage policy will have a limitation on pieces of baggage. Economy, premium economy and business class passengers will be able to check-in up to two pieces of luggage, while those in first class will be entitled to a maximum of three bags. On the other hand, Marco Polo Club silver, gold and diamond tier members would get an extra 10kg, 15kg and 20kg, respectively.

Now Wi-Fi at 8 Mumbai suburban Railway Stations

Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu has inaugurated Wi-Fi services at eight Mumbai Suburban Railway Stations in Maharashtra viz., Churchgate, Bandra, Bandra Terminus, Dadar Western Railway, Dadar Central Railway, Khar Road, Kalyan and Lokmanya Tilak. The WiFi facility for the visitors and rail users of these eight busy stations of Mumbai Suburban Rail Network has been commissioned by a Railway PSU, RailTel in association with Google for providing high speed state-of-the-art world class internet experience to the commuters

 

Destination – Kumbhalgarh -  Rajasthan

Kumbhalgarh Fort is the second most important fort of Rajasthan after Chittorgarh. Located at a distance of 64 Kms from Udaipur in Rajasmand district , Kumbhalgarh Fort is easily accessible from the city of Udaipur. This unconquerable fortress is secured under the kind protection of the Aravali ranges. Kumbhalgarh Fort was built by Maharana Rana Kumbha in the 15th century. The fort derived its name from the same factor. Surrounded by 13 mountain peaks and strengthened by watchtowers and rounded bastions, the Kumbhalgarh Fort was built in 15 years and was constructed by Rana Kumbha. Stretching across the distance of 36 km of the Aravalli Mountains, the fort houses a domed palace and rises to the height of 1100 meters above the sea level. The fort has seven gates and each of them is wide enough for eight horses to march abreast through these gates.

Places to visit :

Ranakpur Jain Temples : The Ranakpur Jain Temples are situated at a distance of 50 km from Kumbhalgarh. Tourist need to avail the route through Saira and Vanpura to reach this temple.

 Kumbhalgarh Wildlife SanctuaryThe Kumbhalgarh Wildlife Sanctuary surrounds the Kumbhalgarh Fort and spans an area of 586 sq km. it is situated across the Aravalli range and deived its name from the Fort.

 Badal Mahal : The Badal Mahal or the Palace of Clouds is situated at the top of the Kumbhalgarh Fort. This two-storied structure id divided into two interconnected distinct portions, namely, the Mardana Mahal and the Zanana Mahal.

 Neelkanth Mahadeo Temple : The Neelkanth Mahadeo Temple is situated close to the fort, near the base of the plains. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and houses a six feet high stone Shivlinga.

How to reach :

The nearest airport to Kumbhalgarh is Udaipur. This is an important domestic airport, located 85 km from Udaipur city, which is serviced by regular flights from several airlines from cities like: Delhi , Jaipur , Mumbai.

Nearest railhead is Falna, around 80 km away , which is a junction railway station. It is well-connected to Mumbai, Ajmer, Delhi, Ahmedabad, Jaipur and Jodhpur. Taxis can be hired from the station to Kumbhalgarh.

Best time to visit

The winter months of November to February are ideal for a visit.
