How to reach

Reaching Egypt by Air:

The main airports in Egypt are Cairo International Aiport and Luxor International Airport. The other major airports are at Aswan, Alexandria and Sharm El Sheikh. Non-stop flights are available, with most of them landing at Cairo International Airport. Major Indian airlines include Air India and Jet Airways. The secondary points of entry here are through Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, Amman, etc.

Reaching Egypt by Bus:

The most convenient and the most popular way of travelling to Egypt by bus would be from Israel. Buses leave from stops at Tel Aviv and Jerusalem cities. The JETT bus company also has a bus service that brings you to Cairo from Amman, following a direct route.

Reaching Egypt by from India:

Major airlines to Egypt from India include Air India, Jet Airways, Etihad Airways, Lufthansa, Gulf Air, Ethiopian Airlines, Oman Air, Emirates and Egypt Air.

Reaching Egypt by Road:

Renting cars is an inexpensive proposition in Egypt. However, getting here by car is not the most preferred option. This is because the authorities in the border areas can refrain from granting you entry through those points, on account of it being a private vehicle. Therefore, several people prefer to get to Egypt by bus.

Reaching Egypt by Water:

There are daily ferries travelling between Nuweiba and Taba as well as Aqaba in Jordan. There are also a number of cruises that halt in Egypt as a part of their itinerary, getting off at Port Said or at Alexandria.

 



Best time to visit:

The weather conditions of Egypt can be quite harsh during summer. The best time to visit Egypt is between October and April, especially if you want visit places like Temples of Luxor, Abu Simbel and the Giza Necropolis. Egypt’s winter is sunny and warm with the occasional spells of rain. You could also visit Egypt around September when there are fewer crowds. In fact, it is best time for shopping in Egypt too.

Monuments:

Giza Necropolis :  Egypt boasts of one of the “seven wonders of the world”, the Giza Necropolis. It is considered to be one of Egypt‘s most iconic sights. The pyramids were built by three generations of Egyptian kings - Khufu, his son Khafre and his grandson Menkaure.

Fun Destination for Kid

Aqua Blue Water Park : Egypt has a lot of fun places for children to visit. Egypt is filled with amusement parks like the Aqua Blue Water Park, the Makadi Water World and many more. Apart from these places you can also take your child to run down a sand dune or explore the interior of a pyramid.

Religious Places

Al Azhar Mosque: The Al Azhar Mosque in Cairo is one of the best religious sites to visit when you are in Egypt. The mosque, built in 972 A.D, has undergone various changes since then. Since A.D 988 this mosque has been the Islamic world’s most prestigious university. You can also visit the Al Bagawat Cemetery, one of the world’s largest ancient Christian cemeteries.

Parks/Gardens: Ras Mohammad Park :The Ras Mohammad Park is the national park of Egypt and it overlooks the Gulf of Suez and Gulf of Aqaba. The other parks that you can visit are the Al-Azhar Park and the Montazah Gardens.

Museums

Luxor Museum : Egypt being an ancient country is filled with various kinds of museums. From art museums, speciality museums, history museums, science museums to military museums, Egypt has them all. One of the most famous museums is the Luxor Museum. This museum displays items that were found beneath the Luxor Temple as well as items from the tomb of King Tut. You shall also find a wall of the Temple of Aten exhibited in this museum.

Natural Attractions

Seascapes :  With sand dunes, desert tours, coral reefs, elphinstone reefs, careless reefs, beaches, Egypt brings out the traveller in everyone.  You can visit the Red Sea and sun bathe on the beaches. In fact, the Red Sea is one of the most beautiful places to go deep sea diving. The water of this sea is renowned for its excellent visibility and has some of the most exotic seascapes. You can stay at beach resorts located on both sides of the sea.

Temple of Philae : With a rich cultural history, Egypt offers you various places to visit that are rich in culture. You can visit the ancient pyramids, temples, and many other monuments. Be amazed by the Egyptian myths during the light and sound show at Abu Simbel or at the Temple of Philae.

Siwa Oasis : Egypt has quite a few landmarks worthy of mention. For instance, a famous landmark is the Siwa Oasis. This landmark is a popular destination for travellers. Tourists come here for freshwater springs, palm groves, the ancient mud-built fortresses and the remnants of Siwa’s Greco Roman Past.  The other landmarks of Egypt are the Dahab, Alexandria, Sharm el-Sheik, White Desert, the Muhammad Ali Mosque and many more.

Flea Market : Walk along ancient souks and bargain for deals in Egypt. Souks are usually open air markets on the street.  These are one of the most remarkable attractions of Egypt. The most famous souk in Egypt is the Khan El Khalili Market in the Hussein District of Cairo. This colourful market is full of spices, jewellery, clothes and even products of daily convenience.

 Departmental Stores :Apart from traditional markets like the souks, many larger cities in Egypt like Cairo and Alexandria have large malls and shopping centres like City Stars, Geneina Mall Nile Hilton Mall and Nile Mall in Cairo and San Stefano Mall, Zahran Mall, and Grand Palaza Mall in Alexandria
